This piece is a replication of a historical seven-ring rapier from our own collection of originals. Our client commissioned this piece to be as close to the original as we could possibly make it. This did not only include the hilt detail and the structure of the weapon but the weight and handling characteristics as well. The only significant changes to the design were to erase some of the affects of age and use from the new rapier.
The guard of this rapier offers great protection to the sword hand of the user. The intricate detail of the bars flowing together to create this nest of steel is a complex process and proved to be quite the challenge to replicate the elegant refinement seen in the original. The seven-ring is a later development of the rapier hilt, but one that embodies the combination of combat practicality with a pleasing design.
