The mounted knight charging with lance leveled is an iconic image of the Middle Ages. The recreation of Knightly activities, such as jousting, has lead to several special projects in our shop to help research and practice these arts of the past. This particular piece was a commission for a hand forged lance tip.
The piece is based on several surviving examples and forged from a single piece of steel. The use of the sharp pointed lance couched under the arm is considered an important development in the effectiveness of the mounted warrior in western culture.
