This form of sword evolved as armor became more common and the medieval weapons adjusted to the challenges of the battle field of the period. This would be a piece seen on the Fields at Crécy and Poitiers as the Hundred Years War raged between England and France.
This steel hilt is made of a beveled wheel pommel and a straight guard with downturned ends. The black grip is waisted allowing the back hand to rotate freely around the grip as the sword is manipulated in the hands. The fore grip has crossed risers in a diamond pattern adding a tactile grip allowing the user to sense where the sword is in the hand.
The blade is a broad tapering sword that ends in a slight curved point adding excellent thrusting stiffness on the elegant sword.
There is one available of this sword.
