Inspired by a 16th-century German original housed in the Metropolitan Museum, our Fébus Boar Spear combines historical authenticity with practical performance. It's robust 14-inch spearhead, in hardened 4140 carbon steel, sits atop a hand shaped ash haft creating nearly 6 and a half feet of spear. Hand-forged from 1/8-inch stock, the socket ensures durability through demanding use. The 1.2-inch diameter ash haft is carefully selected for quality and finished with leather risers and over 120 solid brass nails in two sizes—details drawn from period examples that enhance blade control and weapon handling. At 4.75 pounds, this spear achieves exceptional balance, making it equally effective for historical reenactment, hunting applications, or martial practice.

While popular culture typically depicts boar spears as winged designs with lugs, historical evidence reveals alternative configurations that were equally prevalent. The Fébus Boar Spear exemplifies one such variant, featuring a rotating pivot toggle rather than traditional wings. This toggle is dumb bell shaped steel bar. The other form is a toggle that is suspended on a lanyard.

The leather spiral riser and bands on the haft facilitate the ability to position and handle the spear as depicted in fight manuals such as Talhoffer's Personal Manuscript 1459 in the mixed weapons section.

This exceptional spear is impressive in the hand as well as on the wall in your hunting lodge.
