A large Danish Type M Axe with the addition of a reinforced cutting edge or bit. The axe body tapers in thickness from socket to about 3/4 of an inch from the edge were it flairs again creating a stout cutting surface. This provides excellent durability with some added weight and only reduces the slicing action of the head minimally.
The heavier head will slow this weapon slightly, but the additional weight was probably helpful against fully armored opponents. Mail and spangen helms would have been what this axe was designed to battle.
The edge is hardened and comes sharp. The axe head is mounted on an ash haft custom cut for these pieces.
