This elegant rapier is based on an original piece in the Musée de l'Armée in Paris. The form of the hilt was copied very closely with adjustments in size and weight to match the needs of the client. The objective was for a quick rapier with a blade that had good flex in the foible and a stout forte. The blade is a nail blade for sparring and practice.

The original rapier is pictured in The Rapier and Small-Sword, 1460-1820 by Norman. It is often sited as an exceptional example of a rapier demonstrating the flowing form that many think of as the quintessential swept hilt rapier.

The pommel, in particular, is unique on this rapier. It is deeply faceted and the smaller upper section counter spins to the bottom flutes giving a dramatic finial to this sword.
