Knightly side arms of the 14th C., rondel daggers were quite varied in their appearance and design. This style features large discs of steel for pommel and guard and would have been a serious hand-to-hand combat weapon for the armored knight of the day.
The blade is quite thick along the spine with a steady taper to a single cutting edge. The point is back-edged slightly to give the tip a spike-like cross-section for maximum penetration.
