This sword is our prototype test bed for our Leeds Castle Sword. Using original inspiration from a group of swords that were given as tribute to Sultan al Mu’yyad Shaykh by the king of Cyprus at the end of the 14th Century.
This was the sword we made to check out some of the details and dynamics involved in making these Oakeshott Type XVIIIc blades and the type of hilt structure these swords have. The diamond cross sectioned blade has significant distal taper, which results in a thin and fearsome foible that characterizes these swords, making them exceptional cutting swords. You can see this sword in action here.
