The Seax stands as one of Europe's most versatile and enduring weapons, dominating battlefields from the 6th century through the Medieval era. These fighting knives evolved across the continent in countless configurations—from modest belt knives a few inches long to full-sized single-handed swords. Variations including short, long, broad, and narrow designs emerged, distinguished by blade geometry and edge profiles.
This Anglo-Saxon iteration exemplifies the classic drop point style of blade that is one of the most basic blade shapes ever created. This large war knife is characterized by its thick spine and large size. The curved edge comes right to the formidable stout point. The weapon's prevalence across Europe during this dynamic period of conflict and migration underscores its fundamental role in the development of personal combat.
The grip is ash stained brown and bound at the end in silver wire. The blade is hand crafted and hardened with a stout back spine. The scabbard is black leather with bronze fittings on the seam and around the opening. it has two rings for suspension from belt.
