Smallsword

The Arms & Armor Smallsword has been an exceptional addition to the 17th and 18th Century sword practice community since the 1980's.  In the early years of  the SAFD combat training programs we developed this smallsword for use on stage and film. From the last half of the 17th C depictions to well into the 18th C the smallsword is appropriate for films such as Dangerous Liaisons to anything connected to the American Civil War. While the understanding of the sword styles used in the historical context become more refined, it was Hollywood that often defined the screen image of the swordsman that was seen as authentic. Whether it was Stuart Grainger in  "Scaramouche" or the a duel in "The Duelist"
